Hello! I’m Nick. “Server stuff” is how you describe both my profession and my hobbies.

My background focuses mostly on ops in medium sized companies going through growth phases. Cleaning up tech debt and structuring a company’s internal platform so that they are prepared for the scale they plan to achieve has been a constant over my 20+ years in operations even as the titles and scopes have evolved from sysadmin to devops, sre, and now platform engineering.

My goal with this blog is to talk about how the past influenced our present, why we are currently doing (or not doing) what we are doing, share some things I have learned, and hopefully offer some insights on where we as engineers within this sector can improve in the future.
